Foglight Rules Email Alerts

The method you're doing works for Infrastructure and other custom alarms. But the Database rules use an internal function to process emails.

You should back out the changes made via the Rules Editor first (remove the email action).

If you only want emails for specific job failures (eg. job name matching a pattern, etc) then I have some other blogs and a nice way to do that.

Thanks for the reply. Now that I have that figured out (with your help), let me ask... is there a way to set different email notification settings for the same alarm? It would appear that our dba who set up Foglight is only responsible for backups and other high level dba events; they excluded every job failure except the ones dealing with backups. Ideally, I'd like to set up a different alarm (and email notification) that will allow me to monitor jobs a through z while the other dba only sees alerts for jobs a, b, and c. Is this possible?

Hi, give this one a shot - it's a bit more complex, but once you get the hang of UI Queries and the Service Builder, you can really fine tune the alerting.

Note that the method above is independent to what can be done in the Databases dashboard. You could use the Databases dashboard method to get all alarm notifications for all jobs, but use the service builder just for "a, b and c"
