[MUSIC PLAYING] Hello, I'm Jeff Hawn. Chairman and CEO of Quest Software. And I want to talk to everyone today about our purpose, vision, and values, and why they're so important. What they mean for you, is it provides our company with the type of foundation that allows you to be confident that Quest is able to deliver simple solutions for your most complex problems. We take very seriously and are honored by the commitment that you show to Quest, and we want to be ensuring that we are providing back to you, the best that the company can deliver.
So when you think about Quest, we start with what is our purpose. Quest Software solves complex problems with simple solutions. I like the aspect of this in that it gets them to focus on simplicity. Typically, when you're thinking about what customers want from us, they're not looking for more complexity, they've got plenty of that. They've got complex problems, and they'd like a provider to provide them with simple solutions. And our purpose is to do just that.
From a vision standpoint, our vision is to deliver technology that eliminates the need to choose between efficiency and effectiveness. Like many of you, I get asked what's the difference between efficiency and effectiveness? I'd say with effectiveness, that's describing are we doing the right thing? How effective are we? And efficiency is how well we do that.
So effectiveness, doing the right thing. Efficiency, how well we do it. We need to help our customers eliminate the need to trade off between the two. Is it one or the other? With Quest Software, we're able to deliver both.
Our philosophy is an unwavering commitment to our customers to deliver great products, provide great service, and ensure that we're simple to do business with. Now, how do we do all of that? It has to reside on a strong set of values. We've got six on which we want to be particularly focused. These six values are built on a foundation of ethics, integrity, and respect.
One is, we want everyone to take ownership. What does taking ownership mean? Be stewards of the business. Keep your promises and make commitments, and take charge and deliver the best possible work that you can every day. Embrace change, encourage new ideas as part of embracing that change, and commit to a direction that benefits the business.
Change is constant, and so we must ensure also that we're adapting quickly and enthusiastically. Let's not be resistant to the change, but embrace it. We want to commit to team success. Everything we're doing is ensuring that we're fostering a situation where we are working together to achieve excellence.
We want to hear all the ideas, we want to agree on one direction, and we want to go. We want to recognize the individual, but also celebrate the team. We want to be solution and action oriented. We want to quickly identify issues and propose solutions. Be flexible, be responsive, be available.
And we want to ensure that the solution fits the problem. We want to drive innovation. And by innovation, we're talking about innovation that delivers value for the customer. We want to continuously improve to create operational excellence, and make sure that we're responding creatively to customer needs.
And then finally, we want to communicate openly, honestly, and constructively. We want to share information appropriately and quickly. We want to accept and receive constructive criticism gracefully. We want to respect every opinion, even those contrary to our own.
