Introduction to the enhanced publishing interface in Toad Data Point

Hi. My name is Julie Hyman, and I am the Product Manager for the Toad Business Intelligence suite of products. In this short video, I will show how we've enhanced the publishing interface in Toad Data Point Professional Version 3.3. Toad Business Intelligence is an integrated suite of products. And version 2.0 of Toad Business Intelligence includes Toad Data Point Professional Version 3.3. This new version of Toad Data Point introduces an easier to use publishing interface. So from within Toad Data Point, the users can publish out to Toad Intelligence Central in a couple of ways. First, just by exposing the data here on the left-hand side in the Navigator, I can choose to pick any of the data objects and simply publish by right mouse clicking. Or I can actually create a query. And I'll do a quick query here, joining award data and actor information. And then take this result set that shows movies, and awards, and actors, and publish it out to Toad Intelligence Central by right mouse clicking anywhere in the result grid and selecting Send to Publish. The Publishing window that comes up is the same no matter how I accessed it. And the new publishing interface is characterized, first of all, by this new summary screen that gives you an overview of all of the options you selected in this publishing dialogue. Now along with the Standard Options here, such as the Destination, which is the Toad Intelligence Central Server that I'm publishing to, and the Object Options which is what I'm publishing and what I want to name it, we also added some new options about organization. I can now choose a folder on Toad Intelligence Central that I want to organize this data into. I'm going to choose the Movie Information folder. And you can see right here, I could have selected and created a new folder on the server as part of this process, but I'll just put it into the Movie Information folder. I could add a description. Movie information, including award info. And I can also add tags to this data. I can choose from a list of existing tags, or I can even add completely new tags. And this will help me search and find this data later on. And this Publishing Summary screen, as I mentioned before, gives me an overview of all of the selections I have made. So I can see right here that this information is still private. But I'm going to want to share this information with all of my users on Toad Intelligence Central. And then from here, I can publish this information. Now I mentioned before that I'm now able to characterize this information into folders and tags for easy searching. So right here within Toad Data Point, I can access my Intelligence Central Server. I can see all of the objects that have been published out here by folders. And I can choose also to search using any one of the criteria that I've entered in before, which includes the name, the folder name, the owner, the data source, or all of the above. So here, I'm searching for anything that has the word "award" in folders, tags, owners, or data sources. And simply by selecting that option, it will search through all of the content on this Toad Intelligence Central Server and provide me with anything that matches. And I can also use the new searching options to utilize those tags that I've added to the system by simply typing in the name of a tag, selecting all of the different fields I want the system to search for that particular tag. And so I could search. And I can utilize the tags, and folders, and description in my search criteria. So simply by typing in the name, and then selecting which areas I want to use to search folders, tags, owners, and data sources, the system will automatically go and search through all of the content in Toad Intelligence Central and provide me with a list of items that meet that criteria. And if I want to investigate this item, let's say movie info, a little bit deeper, to see how it meets the criteria, I can select it, go to my Viewer option, and take a look at my metadata. And I can see that it's a data set, who created it, who it's shared with, and what all of the tags were that were added this option.
