Netvault-NDMP

I have a Client with some old tapes.

They used Netvault +NDMP filer (*original environment is not available*)

If i want to restore just the NDMP to an external Hard drive how is it possible?

I did some research that seems like Net app Simulator Vm would work, also some say that commvault might work as well. 

Does anyone had experience with this and how to extract data without NDM filer?

    Tomas, not sure what a "filer" is, but i have a EMC VNXe 3200, that i would like to restore backups to an external source, but it doesn't seem to work, it just tell's me that it cant find the machine (which is because it's offline) but why the heck does it need to be offline if I'm trying to restore from a backup that seems odd...
