Theoretical question: Native export/import of PSTs and mail sync

Hello all-

We just found out that we have to sync and switch a couple of mailboxes next week that are over 70GB in size. Sync time aside, I wanted to ask:

1. If we were to use PowerShell to export these mailboxes to PST and import into the target mailbox and this mailbox is also part of an active sync collection, will the mail messages be duplicated?

2. If we were to export and import and we keep these mailboxes out of an active sync job and I issue a full-resync after a manual switch, would the messages be duplicated?

Obviously this is not the best approach but I just want to weigh our options. Of course, these mailboxes are the CEO and COO of the company.

As always, thanks for the advice.

  • Hey Eric,

To make a long story short... Yes there will be duplicates anytime you import a PST file into a mailbox that is part of a sync collection.

The best approach for those mailboxes honestly is to assign each mailbox its own MAgE agent and let them run on that mailbox only.
