Problem with " Preserve IDs on items/folders in Document Libraries"

hi,

the functionality "Preserve IDs on items/folders in Document Libraries" always turns me off. What should I do in detail so that it is enabled and working?

The "Preserve IDs on items/folders in Document Libraries" option requires database writing to be enabled. However, direct database writing methods are not supported by Microsoft, and if used will have an impact on your Microsoft warranty.

I have tested this using another account and different computer but the same issue. This was working a week or so ago. During the pasting process, I have made sure that the create by and modify by option keeps its value. Please help!
