Looking for the Best Lenovo CAD Workstation

Hi Quest Community,

I’m in the process of setting up a new CAD workstation, and I’d like to stick with Lenovo for its reliability and performance. I’m also planning to use Quest’s tools to optimize the system, so I’d love to get some advice from those of you who are familiar with both Lenovo workstations and Quest’s software.

Here’s my situation: I work primarily with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Revit, and I need a workstation that can handle these programs efficiently, especially when working on large, complex projects. My budget is around 2,500−2,5003,500, but I’m willing to stretch a bit if it means a significant performance boost.

I’ve been looking at Lenovo’s ThinkStation P Series, specifically the ThinkStation P520 and ThinkStation P620, but I’m not sure which one would be the best fit for my needs.

A few specific questions:

  1. What’s the ideal Lenovo ThinkStation configuration for running Quest’s tools alongside heavy CAD software?

  2. Should I prioritize a Xeon or Ryzen Threadripper CPU in a Lenovo workstation for CAD work?

  3. How much RAM is recommended for large-scale CAD projects? Is 32GB enough, or should I go for 64GB?

I’d really appreciate any recommendations or insights from the community. If you’ve used a Lenovo ThinkStation with Quest’s tools for CAD work, I’d love to hear about your experience and how it performs.
