Kace Desktop Authority (version 11.3.1.5018): It is no longer possible to start the DAAdminSvc and Daupdsvc services on Windows Server 2025 Domain Controllers after installing the 2025-04 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Microsoft Server operating system version 24H2 for x64 (KB5054979).
When attempting to start both services, the following message is displayed:
Windows could not start the Desktop Authority Update Service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
Windows could not start the Desktop Authority Administrative Service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
If this patch KB5054979 is removed, the services mentioned above still fail to start. However, by removing both services from the affected Domain Controllers using the Desktop Authority management console and rebooting the DCs, it becomes possible to reinstall the Desktop Authority Administrative Service and the Desktop Authority Update Service.
From that point on, as long as KB5054979 is not installed on the DCs, the Desktop Authority services work correctly.
