Today we're going to be looking at how to integrate the KACE Cloud Mobile Device Manager within the KACE Systems Management Appliance, allowing you to have a single pane of glass to manage all your IT devices within your environment.
So we're going to open up a web browser and log into our KACE Cloud Mobile Device Manager. Log in here. And once we're in the interface, we want to click on Settings, and then go over to KACE SMA. And we're going to see here, we have a Tenant Name and a Secret Key. I've already provisioned my device for this, so we're not going to reconnect. But we'll basically want to copy out the Tenant Name and the Secret Key.
And then we'll navigate over to the KACE Systems Management Appliance. And we're going to want to go to Inventory, Discovery Schedules. And I'll create a new one, just so we can see how that's done. We'll click New. And we'll want to click on External Integration. Want to give that a name, so probably KACE MDM.
And then the next tab you can open up right here is KACE Cloud Mobile Device Manager. And so here's where we'd enter our Tenant Name. And we'd want to add our credentials if they weren't already in here for the KACE Cloud Mobile Device Manager API. We'll also want to select Auto Provision Devices, so any new devices that are found within the KACE Cloud Mobile Device Manager will automatically appear in your KACE Systems Management Appliance inventory.
And then we'll move down to enter a date and time we want this to run. And at that specified time, the KACE Systems Management Appliance will do an import from the KACE Cloud Mobile Device Manager, and bring those devices into inventory.
We're going to jump over now and take a look at what those devices look like in inventory. So I'm going to go over to Inventory, Devices. And we have a label already built to show those devices. So we'll click on iPhone. And as you can see, this is very similar to any other device that shows up in KACE. So we have summary information at the top. And we can see detailed information farther down the page.
Some items of note for integration with the appliance. You'll be able to track mobile devices as assets within the KACE Systems Management Appliance. So from the time you provision a device till you dispose of it, you can track the lifecycle history of that device. Using the KACE Systems Management Help Desk, you'll be able to open and close tickets, and actually link those tickets to mobile devices in addition to other devices you have in the appliance.
There are also some actions you can take from within the Systems Management Appliance also that will directly affect the mobile devices. So if we come down to Choose Action, we have a number of things we can do here. We can lock the device, set and clear a passcode, and enroll in factory reset mobile device.
And if we can scroll down, we can see other information, the version of the operating system, any installed software programs, and many other things that may be of interest. That's all there is to it.
