Database administrators are doing more of their work on Oracle databases in the cloud. Many are doing that work with Quest® Toad® for Oracle DBA Edition, the same tool they use for their on-premises databases.
Yet some DBAs have been asking whether they can keep using Toad for Oracle DBA Edition with their cloud databases, particularly DBaaS. They see how the move to cloud is changing their daily activities (and job description) and they wonder whether Toad will still be useful during and after the transition.
This technical brief explores the changing role of DBAs in the widespread migration of Oracle databases to the cloud. It shows how Toad for Oracle DBA Edition continues to simplify and automate workflows, and identify and tune database workloads in the cloud. Moreover, it examines how DBAs can test workload performance to identify inefficiencies that could lead to increased cost, then optimize SQL executions and find the correct tier of cloud service.
