Below are detailed descriptions of just a few of the new features available in Quest SharePlex for Oracle 5.0

Multi-Threaded Posting

Quest SharePlex 5.0 introduces support for multi-threaded posting. This new feature enables parallel processing of transactional data during the posting process in systems running multiple CPUs. Customers leveraging multi-threaded posting in Quest SharePlex 5.0 have realized increases in performance of up to 300%.

Instant Activation

Quest SharePlex 5.0 delivers instant activation, enabling customers to instantiate replication of a live system without affecting application or database availability.

Additional DDL Support

Quest SharePlex 5.0 enables customers to leverage more Oracle datatypes than ever before. This expanded DDL support provides superior performance for application patching, more comprehensive support for both packaged ERP software applications (Siebel, PeopleSoft, SAP, etc.) and custom applications, plus support for replication between 32-bit and 64-bit platforms.

Queue Recovery

The introduction of queue recovery in Quest SharePlex 5.0 provides customers with additional data security. This new feature helps ensure data in the queuing process won’t be lost or corrupted if all or part of the system experiences an outage.

Support for Oracle RAC on Linux

Quest SharePlex provides support for Oracle Real Application Clusters on Linux.

Compare/Repair Support for LOBs, LONGs and NAT Enabled Firewalls

The ability to ensure that source and target data are always properly synchronized now includes support for LOBs and LONGs and can be done through NAT enabled firewalls.

SSH or Secure Shell

For enterprises managing sensitive data, Quest SharePlex 5.0 provides support for encryption between the source and target databases via the secure shell or SSH.
